Everyone's favourite tech company, Apple, are no strangers to the world of promotional apparel. In the 1980's they made headlines with their daring custom printed fashion range, and let's not forget how iMacs and iPhones have inspired interior and fashion design over the years. Now a forgotten piece of Apple's fashion past has surfaced, and everyone wants a piece of it!

In the early 1990's Apple were still pushing the idea of promotional clothing and custom branded products as part of a means to generate revenue. Unfortunately, the brand didn't enjoy the same level of exposure it does today, and ultimately the idea was shelved. But what about the clothing and goodies Apple produced for this venture? The Apple staff were encouraged to enjoy products from the range that weren't sold externally. This included daily staff wear such as branded polo shirts, but also included a large range of casual wear (tracksuits and jackets, as well as sneakers - this was the 90's). Unsurprisingly, these items of clothing are now extremely rare and desperately coveted by Apple fans the world over!

Recently a heritage auction house found a pristine pair of leather Apple sneakers and listed them for auction on eBay. Simple, retro, and boasting the colourful 90's Mac logo these sneakers sold for a whopping $15,000 US! While the range of promotional clothes and shoes Apple risked in the early 90's didn't pay off for the company immediately, an increase in brand visibility and loyalty has seen these retro gems become luxury items. It's amazing what a stylishly embroidered logo can do to boost the value of otherwise plain jackets and sneakers!
