A follically-challenged man in Austin, Texas, has begun an ambitious business venture selling advertising space on the side of his bald head to businesses willing to pay US$320 a day for the service.

Unconventional Branding...

27-year-old entrepreneur Brandon Chicotsky has been flooded with inquiries since launching Bald Logo last month, which currently employs three "bald angelicals" who spend six hours a day walking around the streets of Austin displaying temporary tattoos on their hairless domes for the assigned rate. The tattoos have been perfected to withstand all manner of weather conditions.

You might think these walking billboards would draw enough attention by themselves, but Bald Logo also incorporates camera crews, full-body spandex suits and sexy girls into a sort of mobile marketing parade to make certain the advertisement is noticed.

Brand Awareness Meets Alopecia Awareness

This is also a campaign with a conscience, with the business donating almost half of their proceeds to America's national Alopecia Areata Foundation. The autoimmune disease causes hair loss from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp.

We can't help but wonder how an advertising approach like this would go down in Sydney. In an advertising-saturated world, where there is constantly new attempts at 'out of the box' ways to market products and brands, how soon would the novelty wear off?

Would you rather invest in some guy walking around with your logo branded on his scalp, or a take-home item of branded merchandise?
