Here at Cubic Promote we are big fans of quirky art pieces and the latest designs by Canadian artist Chloe Wise certainly captured our attention and made us laugh. She has created some cheeky yet realistic-looking hand bags.

The fashion industry never fails to shock us. We’ve seen some scandalous creations made by the most successful and respected designers of all time. Models grace the catwalks in outfits that are often ridiculous and would not be worn outside of the lights, camera, action of a fashion show. So when artist Chloe Wise decided to create some tongue in cheek sculptures based on designer handbags she aimed for creations that were a combination between sculpture and comedy. The first image is a Chanel hand bag made from pancakes. It looks more delicious than stylish to me!

The above image is entitled the Louis Vuitton Baguette.

Actress India Muenez wore one such creation to a Chanel No. 5 dinner. The piece entitled Bagel No. 5 can be seen above. This was a very stylish star studded event, and while the bag is a strange choice it certainly fitted into the weird and wacky side of the fashion industry. Chloe admits that she thought it was “a hilarious way to contextualise the art within the fashion audience.”

Chloe is delighted with the confusion surrounding the bags. At the end of the day they are art pieces but when placed in a fashion context they surpass their original purpose as wall art. It’s certainly comical when these bags are reviewed and branded the latest fashion trend. We’ve seen so many shocking pieces that something as ridiculous as Bread Bags are being accepted as fashion accessories.
