Did anyone read the news today about IBM? Apparently there was a big computer security conference hosted by IBM. As part of the event all participants (I could assume a mix of clients, business partners, leading stake holders from national companies around the world) all received a pack including a conference flashdrive intended to contain relevant information. Instead the conference USB key contained a Malware computer virus! As of that moment every single major newspaper, technology blog, business paper, I.T related publication as well as all the participants of course are talking about the this. The negative press, the potential to damage computers, the embarrasment, the loss of credibility and even the potential loss of clients would be immense. & Why? From my experience & knowledge of USB drives it seems a purchasing manager decided to opt for the very very cheapest promotional USB stick they can find…. The thing is the very cheapest branded USB sticks tend to be recycled flash memory. That is USB chips that have been scavanged and re-packed to sell as new. That’s why they are so cheap. In fact IBM was a high profile case there are many instances which this has occured. Our client telstra also had this happen to them last year when they purchased cheap USB keys through a “dodgy,” cheap vendor.
We at Cubic Promote sell only Grade A custom brandable USB keys. Our product has a lifetime warranty and is quality checked twice before we deliver. We simply can’t afford to supply an inferior not for value product because of the caliber of clients we supply to which includes government departments, the police, national companies and many others. If our custom USB keys faulter or contain virus’s we simply would be out of business!! Trust us to deliver a value for money superior product. call us today to find out more about our branded flashdrives!!

I hope everyone had a good and safe Easter holiday break. We’ve been working with a few customers lately on promotional flash drives with laser engraving. If you have an image that has a lot of detail laser engraving is definitly the option to choose as opposed to normal pad printing. For engraved corporate flash drives we are able to offer engraving as a free upgrade. You see the thing that happens when there is a lot of detail to be branded is that the ink in the nozel of our pad printers tend to get clogged up leading to a smudged result in branded flashdrives. With laser engraving though the effect is different because the high heat laser beam is computer controlled and allows for a lot more detail. Just check out the Australian Emblem crest in the image below which is one that we did for a government agency recently. We managed to get almost all the little details in the space of a flashdrive.

We are getting more and more stocked promotional flash drives by the week. This week we are releasing a more conservative but utterly classy promotional flash drive which we have named the PQ. All our promotional flash drives of course come backed with a 20 year data retention warranty. We are that confident about the quality of our USB products!

A really really good idea when choosing what colour to go for when it comes to that promotional flash drive or stressball is to go for the colour that is the same or similar to your logo. You see not only does it make your logo look seamless and effortless and totally integrated with your brand but it also saves you money too. With many of our customised merchandise being printed only in spot colours this means additional colour prints attract extra cost. With the actual item in your logo colour this would save you money. One thing to keep in mind though not all logos are designed with this in mind so in some instances this may not be possible. If in doubt email your logo through to us and we can give you some good recomendations if this is possible.

One thing we noticed since coming back from the Christmas break…. (seems a long long time ago now) is that this year we have more and more customers looking for promotional flash drives. But not just any old custom usb though. We’ve noticed customers opting for some really odd ball and unique shaped ones. In case you didnt know though custom made flash drives are our flag ship product. We’ve produced countless projects last year with custom made flash drives in all shapes and sizes. If you’ve seen corporate flashdrives in a weird or funny shape like planes and cars around chances are we probably developed them. You see we have a great technical designer who is able to take your idea and run with you to create a really really radical indent flash drive. For larger order quantities runs we definitely will recommend you to consider indent flash drives!

Promotional flash drives are a relatively new and recent promotional product. In fact it was only around 10 years ago that that many of us were still using the floppy disc. (remember those black floppy pieces of plastic which had a hole in the middle?
The flash drive memory chip was invented as recently as 1996 by a company called Netach Technology who sold the technology to two companies being IBM and Trek Technology. At that time the memory capacity was about 8mb which was many times larger than floppy discs.
I’m still reseaching this (just for fun) and will keep you posted if i find out anymore.
