Selfie sticks are inherently funny. They're just a rather light hearted and somewhat silly product. It's a long stick which you attach your phone to so you can take photos of yourself. It's not something that you can really take seriously, which makes the following photos absolute gold. Take some of most dramatic scenes from action and adventure movies. Take some of the most heroic, and anti-heroic figures in cinema history, armed for bear, and spoiling for a fight. And then photoshop in some selfie sticks. It's a delightfully absurd look.

Hilarious Selfie Sticks

From Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban comes one of the climatic scenes in the film. His life threatened by soul sucking monsters, Harry Potter valiantly fires off a spell and in a flash of blinding white light, saves the day in a suitably heroic manner. Or he would if he had his wand and not a selfie stick.

In my mind, this is James Cameron's magnum opus. Not his infinitely more higher grossing Titanic or Avatar films. It is and always will be Terminator 2: Judgement Day. It was Arnie at his best, at the height of the 1980's - early 1990's classic action film era. This was an iconic scene in a film filled with them. And yet all the drama is replaced with hilarity at the sight of the unstoppable killing machine seemingly posing for his followers on instagram.

Clint Eastwood. His old filmography is filled with characters who talked softly - though menacingly - and carried a big gun. The Man with No Name and Dirty Harry being the most iconic. He carried one of the biggest guns in cinema back then and it was what made him so dangerous. So did he snap six selfies? Or only five? Well... Do you feel lucky? Punk?!

Indiana Jones is one of the most iconic characters in cinematic history and pop culture. Although I think a selfie stick would have been best photoshopped into one particular scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. When he's in the marketplace, faced with a scimitar wielding goon who spins and flourishes it in a showy manner, only to be unceremoniously shot down. Imagine that scene, but with the sword replace with a selfie stick. I think it'd be pretty funny.

I believe it was Pulp Fiction that helped us all realise the sublime talent of Samuel L Jackson in angrily yelling at people. "what does Marcellus Wallace look like?" "I never heard of no what? DO THEY SPEAK ENGLISH IN WHAT?!"  "Say what again, SAY WHAT AGAIN! I DARE YOU, I DOUBLE DARE YOU!" Somehow, I don't think that poor fellow would have been quite as flustered if it was a selfie stick rather than a gun pointed at him. Although... Samuel L Jackson can be pretty terrifying when yelling.
