Everybody can use with a bit of creativity, no matter what line of work you are in. If you are a blogger, a designer (for anything at all) then it is obvious that you need to be on your A-game every single day. However if you are in a processing role, a management or any job so to speak a bit of creativity will always help. Perhaps there is a better way to do a task? Maybe a more creative way to do a presentation.

Working at a desk within the same environment everyday can make your spark of imagination quite dull. Here are some top tips that I have compiled which has really helped me not only in being a little bit more imaginative but has made my desk tidier and me happier in general. The little things do make a difference and here is my list of little things that will hopefully give you some inspiration.

Products On My Desk With a Purpose

Everything that is on top of my desk has to serve a purpose. If it serves no purpose then I have it removed promptly. The worse culprits that I have had in the past included everything from paper clips (most people think they use them but don't), calculators (my computer has a better one), files (ones that are not being worked on) are common items that can be cleared from most people's desks.

The products that do serve a purpose include phones, keyboards, monitors, 1 pad of paper and 1 pen only. On any given day i may have 2 or 3 other items but that is it!

Natural Green Plants

Plants are special and I find them very inspirational. Plants appeal to me because their appearance change slightly everyday, they have no straight lines and they simply radiate energy. If possible have plants within your workspace that is not on your desk. Tipping one over is a night mare to clean and no desk is ever big enough for them anyway.

Iphone Dock & Ipad Stand

Weather it be a freebie promotional Smartphone Chair, or a dedicated top of the line Ipad stand, your desk will definitely be enhanced. There are several advantages to having a proper dock including:

1) You can use content such as Facebook or Twitter or other social media feeds off it. This saves you additional monitor space on your main work area.

2) It looks cool, and synchronizing or charging is a breeze

3) It saves desk space by being upright

Daily Task Notepad

This is especially handy. Anytime I start work I know there are a heap of things to do. When I jot them all down in bullet points on a writing pad it helps to give focus on what is urgent and allows me to tick them off as tasks are completed. It is a great way to relieve stress.

Do Things The Analog Way

Everything done on a computer is great. Neat and efficient it enables you to communicate and get the job done quickly and in no time at all. Unfortunately all this convenience is at an expense to creativity and simply contemplating your next move. That is why my one and only pen on my desk is constantly at work. I use it to write down ideas whenever they spring to mind. Yes I can write my ideas on an endless array of software applications on my computer, however it is actually quicker for me to write on paper and best still writing things down lead to better and better ideas. This is a sensation that has never happened to me whilst typing ideas on a computer. Investing in a good journal like a Moleskine notebook also gives you a psychological feel smart factor too.

The Desktop Inspirational Item

I lied about my desk only having products that are functional. I keep 1 item which does nothing except to make my desk look cool and it does not need to be there. It is a figurine of my favourite action figure. Different people will have different inspirational items, the most obvious being a photo of a loved one of course. I recommend keeping no more than 1 or 2 as having less means the value of the items that are there all the more important.

So there you go my top tips on providing inspiration to your desktop office work space!
