Promotional flash drives are a relatively new and recent promotional product. In fact it was only around 10 years ago that that many of us were still using the floppy disc. (remember those black floppy pieces of plastic which had a hole in the middle?

The flash drive memory chip was invented as recently as 1996 by a company called Netach Technology who sold the technology to two companies being IBM and Trek Technology. At that time the memory capacity was about 8mb which was many times larger than floppy discs.
