Flaunting something written down in a language you don’t understand, speak, or read is always a popular option. It’s stylish. It’s fashionable. It’s occasionally hilarious. You’ve got comedic stories of people wearing clothes - or more amusingly - getting tattoos, written in languages they can’t read. In the Western world it’s usually Chinese or Japanese script for that worldly and international style. It’s the Chinese word for Courage, the Japanese symbols for good fortune!  It’s actually meant to spell out soup, or water fountain, or something equally random or nonsensical.

It’s good to see though that the East is equally adept at hilarious misuse of foreign languages.  The following pictures were gathered from budget clothes stores in Japan. While the high end labels have done their research and sport grammatically correct and sensible slogans, these one feature complete non sequiturs and what would best be described as a word salad.  For example, a branded shirt that spells out “Precise Dwarf Bravery” or an embroidered sweater which just simply says: hamper. I wonder if it's also fashionable for adventurous young Japanese people to tattoo themselves with English words which they were assured meant Bravery, but actually spells out  something completely random?
