Melt In Your Mouth, Not In Your Hand

This famous slogan may not have been used much lately, but we all know the product well enough. These chocolate candy buttons are iconic. Everyone knows and loves them. It also explains why they are always the most popular type of confectionery in tradeshows and exhibitions. Our promotional m&m's are sold in the hundreds of thousands each year to businesses and organisations around Australia. It is no surprise that Mars confectionery, the maker of the M&M chocolate is indeed the family name of the inventor, Forest Mars. The coated chocolate candy seems to date back to the 1930s during the Spain civil war. However, it was Forest Mars that saw an opportunity, after seeing these lollies consumed by soldiers in Europe.

Forest Mars developed a production process along with a new business partner called Bruce Murrie in 1940 and began selling the chocolate under the name M&M.

How did the name Come About?

The name simply came about by combining Forest Mars surname, with his business partners surname, (i.e. Brue Murrie), and the name M&M chocolates were born.

M&M Trivia:

Did you know that each M&M weights about 0.91grams each? They each have 4.7 calories. In Australia, they were introduced in the 1980s (I am old enough to remember). My current favourite Caramel M&Ms were first released last year in 2017
