Cooler (or chiller bags), work by insulating temperature. By insulating the inside of the bag, and protecting the heat or cold from escaping, your food or contents will be kept at your desired temperature. Many methods and types of bags make cooler bags work effectively, and I'll go through some of the more popular ways here.

The Basics of Insulating Temperature

To keep food or items inside a promotional cooler bag hot or cold, you need three things to occur to make this happen.

• Number 1: The contents that go into the bag needs to already be at a temperature that you desire to maintain. If you need things hot, the items need to be hot in the first place. Same if you need things cold, the items need to be at the cold temperature that you wished to maintain. (know that the bag will never be able to keep your items any hotter or colder than when you first placed the items in the bag)

• Number 2: To insulate the contents inside a promotional cooler bag, you need to stop hot or cold temperature from escaping the bag.

• Number 3: Just as important you need the bag to prevent the outside temperature from entering into the Cooler bag.

Once all these criteria are met, you will have a cooler bag that will protect the temperature inside.

What Happens When You Don't Use a Cooler Bag?

It means that items will return to the outside temperature environment that is around your bag.

How Is Insulation Achieved?

So how exactly is temperature maintained inside a bag?  The answer is a vaccum of air. Having a vacuum of air between the inside of the bag and the outside of the bag, enables hot or cold temperature to be trapped inside.  To create the vacuum of air between the inside and outside of the bag, styrofoam was used. Today our cooler bags are lined with foam which is sandwiched between thick foil.

Did you know that original cooler bags, were ice boxes made from steel? Later iceboxes were made using plastic. In modern day times, they are now so compact, that they are made into foldable flexible bags. The increase in flexibility has allowed cooler bags to be made in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Having a stylish bag or an effective promotional cooler bag is no longer mutually exclusive, as you can now have both!

Advantages of Modern Cooler Bags

A significant advantage of modern cooler bags is that they are incredibly light in weight. Other than being stylish, chiller bags are available with an array of accessories, including pockets, carry handles, carry straps, internal compartments and multiple access zips. Cooler bags have sure come a long way.

Difference Between Cheap Coolers and Expensive ones?

The difference between cheap promotional cooler bags and expensive ones is in the materials used. Larger bags tend to be pricier, but it is more than just size. More expensive cooler bags have a better fit and finish. Expensive cooler bags also feature superior foam insulation as well. What this all means, is that more costly bags will be able to keep cold or hot temperatures inside the bag for longer.

Tip on Using Coolers

To keep things cold for longer using a chiller bag, add a dry ice pack inside the bag. Do the same for hot items too, by using a heated gel pack.
