The obvious answer to the question of "what is good promotional chocolate" would be "any promotional chocolate" however, there's actually a significant taste (and often price) difference between high-quality chocolate and lower-quality varieties. So what is good promotional chocolate? Let us give you a guide to these wonderful types of custom branded confectionary.

Our Customised Chocolates

Here at Cubic Promote, we stock a variety of promotional chocolates of varying flavours, sizes, and quantities. The cheaper chocolates in our range are taste-tested and super yummy, but our high-quality chocolates are manufactured with a richness of flavour in mind. So how can you tell the difference and is more expensive always "better"?

The Taste Test

Break off a small (2-3cm piece) of your chocolate and pop it in your mouth. Good chocolate, made from high-quality ingredients and with a high level of cocoa will break up and melt in your mouth. The flavours will be strong and eating it is akin to tasting a premium wine; it's all about the experience of savouring rather than simply devouring the product. Cheaper chocolate will have less distinct flavours, a more generic mouthfeel, and will be easier to consume as it is overall milder.

What Ingredients to Look For

To get the most bang for your buck, ensure the chocolate you're consuming is made primarily from cocoa solids. Compound chocolate is a cheaper alternative to confections that are cocoa-rich and while it still has some chocolate in it (usually a non-alcoholic liquor), overall it is less flavoursome and requires mixing with ingredients like palm or vegetable oil. Having all that flavour in chocolate comes at a cost though, so be prepared to pay more for authentic cocoa in your choccies.

Does It Matter if Your Chocolate is "Good" or "Bad"?

The short answer is no, there are a time and place for all kinds of chocolate. If you're supplying bulk chocolates for a convention, it often isn't feasible to provide extremely high-end chocolate in such a considerable quantity, which is why more affordable chocolates are often selected for these events. Similarly, when you're just treating yourself sometimes a block of everyday Cadbury chocolate is perfect to suit your needs, rather than a $25 block of imported dark chocolate.

Our suggestion is to recognise the flavours you appreciate and indulge in these more costly options as rare treats and stick with the usual M&M's and supermarket offerings for your everyday chocolate fix. It might even be that you prefer the cheaper chocolates because the flavour is creamier and that's OK too, know what you like and enjoy it as part of a balanced diet!
