Armidale Merino Stud
Last Updated: 20 October 2026

Armidale Merino Stud is a fifth-generation farming operation in Central Otago, New Zealand, known for breeding Merino sheep suited to the region’s tough conditions. The team wanted branded enamel mugs that felt just as practical and down-to-earth as the farm itself. Regina Mangubat, our account manager, helped Sarah Paterson bring the order together and worked with her on the black enamel mug design. She made sure the darker finish gave the Armidale logo plenty of contrast without making the branding feel too heavy.
When Black Makes the Logo Pop
Black works really well when you want the logo to be the main event. It cuts down the visual clutter and gives lighter artwork much stronger contrast, which was exactly what the Armidale design needed.
On these mugs, the pale blue and white details popped against the black enamel without looking too loud. The silver rim also added a nice little finishing touch and kept that classic enamel-mug look.
But Black Can Be a Bit Unforgiving
Black enamel gave the mugs a really strong look, but it also made the artwork less forgiving. Regina picked that up early and worked the design around the mug rather than just dropping the logo on and hoping for the best.
She focused on a few simple things:
- Keeping the logo easy to read
- Making the lighter details stand out
- Giving the artwork enough space
- Avoiding a crowded finish.
Those little adjustments helped the black mug work in the logo’s favour. The finished piece still had that bold, rugged look, and the branding came through nice and clean.
Happy Client: Mugs That Felt Right at Home
Sarah did not need many words once the mugs arrived, which usually tells you plenty. She sent us this message after opening the order:
“Yes, they have arrived today, and they are great. Thanks so much!”
We’re happiest when the finished product feels spot on for the client. We can already picture these mugs getting plenty of use with a hot drink somewhere out on the farm!
