We recently teamed up with Complex Co to put together a professional giveaway pack for their latest brand activation. The goal was to create a cohesive set of merchandise that could hold their existing brochures while providing high-quality items that people would actually want to keep. We supplied a bulk order of premium Pens and durable Paper Bags, delivering the full kit to their Sydney office right on schedule for their event.

The Strategy

By ordering both pens and bags in bulk, Complex Co was able to secure a much better price per unit, making the project a highly cost-effective investment for their marketing budget. Our in-house design team handled the branding, using precise PMS matching to ensure their logo looked identical across two very different materials. We chose a sturdy paper stock for the bags so they could easily handle the weight of the brochures without tearing, ensuring a polished look from the moment a lead walks away from the booth.

Feedback From Clients

The client’s feedback was fantastic—they were particularly impressed by the “heft” and writing quality of the pens, which elevated the whole experience. According to staff observations during the hand-outs, the premium feel of the kit led to a 2.8% increase in follow-up enquiries compared to their previous events. It just goes to show that when the quality is there, people are much more likely to hang onto your branding. You can check out more of their work by visiting the Complex Co website.

Why Mary Suggests Paper Bags and Pens

With my years of experience in event marketing, I always suggest pairing a high-quality pen with a functional bag. It’s a classic combo because it solves a problem for the attendee—they need a way to carry all the brochures they collect, and they always need a reliable pen. By focusing on the quality of these “touchpoints,” Complex Co ensured its brand felt premium rather than disposable. It’s a simple strategy that consistently delivers a better ROI at busy trade shows.
