What was ordered: Their team ordered 800 red hand fans featuring our 105.7 ABC Darwin logo for an upcoming event.

What is it for: To connect with locals and increase our visibility during the annual Kite Festival held along the Darwin coastline in September 2024.

How were the fans used? As part of our sponsorship of the Kite Festival, we set up a bright, welcoming stall along the foreshore where families gathered to enjoy the event. The weather was warm and sunny — perfect for the colourful kites and an ideal opportunity to hand out our red branded fans to help people stay cool.

The fans turned out to be a crowd favourite. Everywhere you looked, people were waving them while watching the kites, chatting with friends, or walking along the beach. The bold red colour and clear station logo stood out beautifully, making our brand impossible to miss.

By the end of the day, all 800 fans had found new homes. We spoke with hundreds of attendees, handed out plenty of giveaways, and met new listeners who said they’d tune in after the event.

For us, it wasn’t just about the branding — it was about being part of a vibrant community celebration. The Kite Festival gave us a chance to connect face-to-face with our audience and share a little local spirit, one fan at a time.
