What is the difference between bonded leather, split leather, and regular leather?

Bonded Leather is much thinner than split leather. They are made from scrap leather which makes them cheap. With the scrap materials bonded together, it wears off and quickly gets scratched, peeled and flaked over time compared to split leather. The feel and smell are the same but bonded has a more consistent texture than split leather, which often has some imperfections.

Split leather is also known as genuine leather, and it is the layer of the hide left after the top-grain has been taken. They are also called regular leather in the industry. Split, Genuine or Regular leather is often thought to be the highest quality leather available. Although they are made with an actual hide, the more premium leather will be the full-grain leather. It is the first layer of the rawhide and the most durable of all coatings.
