Custom Bottles for Bowls New South Wales
Last Updated: 29 July 2025
When Bowls New South Wales (NSW) prepared for their attendance at the 2025 AGE Expo at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney, they knew they needed a standout item to engage with visitors while representing the spirit of their sport. So, they turned to Cubic Promote to order 1,000 custom drink bottles from us. Each of these bottles features a striking design by Indigenous artist Shane Cook.
Mark, one of our local experts at Cubic Promote, worked closely with Bowls NSW to make sure that these bottles didn’t just serve as giveaways. Rather, they became a meaningful reminder of what Bowls NSW stands for.
The Brief
Bowls NSW is the governing body for lawn bowls in New South Wales, supporting clubs and promoting the sport as a fun, social, and active lifestyle choice. They had an upcoming expo to attend, the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE), to be held in the Sydney ICC. This expo gathers businesses and organisations from the gaming and hospitality industries to network and attend a series of seminars.
To help make a positive impression at the expo, they decided to give out premium promotional items that symbolise respect and collaboration, two of their core values. To do that, they ordered 1,000 custom bottles from Cubic Promote printed with a design from an Indigenous artist.
How We Made It Happen

Once Bowls NSW chose the water bottles as their item of choice, the Cubic Promote team sprang into action. We worked with them to ensure that the artwork would be displayed in a way that honoured Shane’s vision and communicated the core message of Bowls NSW. Our team produced mock-ups of the bottle design and fine-tuned the details until it was just right.
From there, the production process moved swiftly. We kept Bowls NSW updated at every stage, ensuring that the bottles would be delivered on time and to the highest standards. When the bottles arrived ahead of schedule, Bowls NSW was ready to distribute them at the AGE Expo.
Behind the Design

Shane Cook, a Wulli Wulli and Koa (Guwa) man, is a respected artist known for his powerful works. Shane’s creative approach blends nature with urban landscapes, drawing inspiration from both his heritage and his journey.
Shane’s design features four symbolic layers that represent the spirit of our sport and the diverse community that comprises Bowls NSW. Each element tells a story, reinforcing the deep connections between our members, clubs, Regions and the land we play on.
For Bowls NSW, Shane developed a design that told a story—a story of connection, community, and respect. The design represented the passion shared between bowlers, the diversity of the community, the 16 regions across NSW, and the deep respect for country. Each layer of the design was symbolic of how Bowls NSW connects its members and honours the land where they play.
The Outcome
The custom water bottles were a hit at the expo, with attendees immediately loving the design. But more than that, every time they handed out the bottles, they were able to spark conversations with the people. Compared to the previous expos they attended, their staff noted that these bottles helped in the:
- 5% average increase in foot traffic in their booth, with many visitors stopping by to get a closer look at the bottles and learn more about the organisation.
Feedback from Bowls NSW was overwhelmingly positive. Mark, from Bowls NSW, said.
Mark and the team at Cubic Promote have been great to work with. No matter what we require, they will go above and beyond to deliver the best product possible for us.
The custom water bottles not only helped boost Bowls NSW’s visibility at the expo but also continued to generate buzz long after the event. Social media mentions increased as people shared their experiences with the bottles.
Takeaway
The custom bottles weren’t just freebies. They became a conversation piece, a symbol of community, and a way to connect with people on a deeper level. With Shane Cook’s powerful design printed around the bottles, each bottle carried the values of inclusion, respect, and pride in the game of bowls.
Thanks to the close collaboration between Bowls NSW and our team at Cubic Promote, the project came together smoothly and delivered real impact at the AGE Expo. From a boost in booth traffic to lasting engagement on social media, these bottles helped tell the Bowls NSW story in a way that people remembered.
