Here in Australia, we are fortunate that the COVID-19 outbreak has been relatively contained thanks to our swift lockdown implementation and capable medical system, but overseas things are a bit more dire and in the US citizens are being asked to wear face masks for personal protection. This extends to Hollywood and we've noticed a serious uptick in the number of celebs rocking face masks like the rest of us. Here are some of our favourite examples.

The Use of Face Masks in the Midst Of The Pandemic

Face masks are essential for staying safe and healthy during the pandemic. Wearing face masks can prevent the spread of COVID-19 by blocking droplets from spreading when people talk, laugh, sneeze, or cough. It is important that everyone wears a mask to protect themselves and those around them in crowded places like schools, hospitals, public transportation, supermarkets and pharmacies.

Face masks also act as deterrents prohibiting people from touching their faces with their hands which can often be contaminated with virus particles that are then passed along to other individuals unknowingly. Furthermore, wearing a face covering will help remind individuals not to touch their noses and mouths which are routes coronavirus typically enters our bodies through.

Different types of face coverings have been created ranging from cloth masks (which should fit snugly), to non-medical surgical disposable masks available at most stores nowadays. Thus it is imperative that we all wear proper face coverings in order to stay safe during this unprecedented health crisis

Whether you're pop royalty like Billie Eilish, an acting superstar like Ben Affleck, or a celeb power couple like Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, it turns out that simple disposable face masks are the popular choice for celebrities getting exercise or running essential errands during the COVID-19 outbreak in America.

Part of why this seems to be a trend when there are deluxe, reusable fashion label masks on the market is that these cheap, disposable masks are often considered the best choice for hygiene. They're not going to win any awards, but the humble medical-style face mask offers a low risk of contamination from dangerous particles if you follow our guide for how to put on a mask correctly.

As we mentioned above, here in Australia things are thankfully nowhere near as bad as they are in America and if we all continue to follow government guidelines and take adequate precautions with our wellbeing then we will get through this thing sooner rather than later.

But if you are in a high-exposure area or are unwell/planning to visit vulnerable relatives then take that little extra care and pop on 3-ply face masks when you're out and about. You might not have Justin Bieber or Hugh Jackson fame and money, but you can absolutely rock their latest looks!
