White Bottle (Hand Sanitiser)

Alcohol Content is Important

Alcohol is the active germ-killing ingredient in most promotional hand sanitisers because it is an effective antiseptic agent. However, you need to be wary of the actual alcohol content in the hand sanitiser you buy -- cheap, dodgy suppliers will often try to package a low alcohol content to save money. Here at Cubic Promote, we don't do that, our alcohol content is always above 60%. The TGA states that a formula of 60% is the minimum for alcohol to be effective at killing germs, while the WHO recommends 70-80% alcohol content.

Please be aware that the higher the alcohol content, the more likely those with sensitive skin may have a reaction (such as dried, chapped skin or a possible rash). We recommend keeping your hands moisturised as well as sanitised if you're using a lot of alcohol-based sanitiser regularly, especially during the colder months.

You Still Need to Wash Your Hands

Hand sanitiser is designed to be used in addition to hand washing, not instead of handwashing. Hand sanitiser is useful when you're not anywhere near a sink or don't have any soap handy, but it cannot replace thorough washing of your hands using soap and warm water. We recommend keeping some portable soap sheets in your pocket to ensure you're never without soap in a public bathroom. At home and in the office, utilise the bathroom for proper handwashing and resort only to sanitising if you can't keep up from your desk or you're out and about.

chemicals used in sanitiser

Don't Try Making Sanitiser at Home

Hand sanitiser, being made from strong chemicals including alcohols, is not something people can make safely in their homes. There's a reason hospitals, shops, community centres, and government bodies buy in their hand sanitiser and it's because hand sanitiser is best left to the professionals. Getting the correct balance of alcohol to gel can mean the difference between a sanitiser killing germs and doing absolutely nothing useful. If you've got too much alcohol too the sanitiser can be extremely dangerous (flammable, corrosive).

Our factories that manufacture hand sanitiser have had their formulas tailored by chemists to provide the best results possible. No matter where you buy your bulk hand sanitizers, it is best to trust seasoned suppliers that know how to get the balance right.

Other Ways I Use Hand Sanitisers

Hand sanitisers are great for killing germs. Over the past year, though, I have learnt a few handy ways to use hand sanitisers in other applications, which I will share with you now.

Use as a Cleanser for Adhesives

Things such as stickers, gum, blu tac and other sticky substances leave a residue when removed. I have found hand sanitisers to be a great way to remove those.

As a Cleanser

I have had some terrific results cleaning these surfaces using Hand Sanitisers:

  • Windows
  • Shower Glass
  • Toilet Seats
  • Oven Stains
  • Metal Kettle Stains
  • White Board Markers off White Boards
