Stubby coolers custom printed with graphics and images are always a huge seller in our range. They are simple enough products that are generally liked and used over and over again. When you are using stubby coolers branded with your logo and for your event it is worth considering if they are appropriate though as ultimately stubby coolers is associated with alcohol and for that reason they may be considered inappropriate in certain instances.

Age Appropriate Stubby Cooler Recipients

A few years ago an Australian High School landed into hot water for distributing printed stubby coolers for year 12 graduates. The message was obvious with hindsight as a stubby cooler implies drinking and alcohol. This probably was not the best message for most of the recipients who would have just turned 18 or even some who were under 18.

Offense Graphics on Stubby Coolers

In today's news there is a Police enquiry into a stubby cooler used by officers in West Melbourne. The stubby cooler in question which has been distributed amongst officers was this one:

stubby cooler 062013

Like me your first observations may have been what was so offensive about it? The issue was that the image is a picture of a type of fish called Mudfish. It is a racially charged term for Africans and is definitely not appropriate. On the other side was the text 01/01?

About 50 stubby holders were made depicting a mudfish - a derogatory term for Africans - and distributed by officers at the station. To make things worse the item also had a message on the other side: "My date of birth is 01-01-?," This apparently refers to refugees who do not reply with their birthday when questioned.

Messages on Stubby Holders & Promotional Products Last

For better or worse a message on a promotional product lasts. The police stubby holder was back in April last year and subsequently been disposed of. However the message has been done and is causing embarrasment. So please keep your messages clean and simple when branding on stubby coolers and use them in the right context to save from embarrasment or worse.
