They have a national day for everything around the world. Who would have thought that the humble umbrella would also get a day too? Well, it has, and it had also passed me by without my knowledge. You see February 10th, is officially known as Umbrella Day!

Umbrellas Taken for Granted

There are a few products in life we take for granted. A ballpoint pen is one, and an umbrella is another. If it rains, we search for custom casual umbrellas, the thought and the action comes automatically with little consideration or processing for alternate options. The umbrella is possibly is one of the most brilliant inventions of all time, a universal object that individuals from any background can use and appreciate.

National Umbrella Day

On February the 10th, the day is officially known as the National Umbrella Day in America. However, I see no reason, why we should not also celebrate that day here in Australia. To commemorate the day, you are to purchase a new umbrella and post it on social media using the hashtag:

#nationalUmbrellaDay

Buy Your Promotional Umbrella for your Event

The use of umbrellas as promotional products is an effective marketing strategy. Not only do they serve a practical purpose, but these days more and more people are looking for customised items that stand out from the rest. Promotional umbrellas can be printed with logos or special designs to increase brand visibility and make them a talking point when used in public places.

With so many different styles, sizes, colours and materials available to choose from, there's sure to be something for everyone whether your target audience is corporate clients or leisure seekers. What's more; since most people don't need multiple umbrellas during their lifespan, this makes it easy for companies to create long-lasting brand relationships with customers year after year by gifting them personalised umbrellas each time they purchase goods or services.

Over my years in selling promotional umbrellas, I have noticed that Australian purchases tend to be fall in two categories. 1) Giant Golf Sized Umbrellas 2) Tiny Compact Sized umbrellas Mid-sized umbrellas are popular, but nowhere near as popular as super big ones, and super small ones.

Other Uses for Umbrellas

Umbrellas are not merely for rain. There are many other uses for umbrellas such as:

  • Protecting you from the Sun
  • For use in professional photographs. Photographers use umbrellas strategically to bounce light into various directions to create amazing visuals.
  • As decorative items for the home, retail or office decor
  • As props for use during events, such as weddings

Umbrella Trivia: Did you know that variations of objects that resemble umbrellas have been found in ancient monuments in Egypt, Greece and China?
