It's amazing what some creativity and some splashes of colour on logos can do to help kids in need. Take for example the A.C.Camargo Cancer Center in São Paulo, Brazil. The staff there realised that having chemotherapy is a particularly bleak experience for young people, so they worked with ad agency JWT (and Warner Bros) to come up with a vibrant solution to help lift the mood in the wards.

The key to this campaign was helping to address how scary and uncomfortable chemo can be to young kids. Rather than hiding away the IV drips, they drew attention to them in the form of colourful logo printed outer cases featuring emblems plucked straight from the world of DC comics. That's right; this rebranding was all about empowering kids to feel as tough as their favourite superheroes while still dutifully accepting the uncomfortable medications that help them to fight their cancers. This was accomplished not only by the simple two colour prints on each IV case, but by producing special comics that show heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern using these "super formulas" as well.

The overall result was magic. Kids felt closer to their comic book heroes, who were experiencing similar issues in their respective books before overcoming adversity with the power of "superformulas" (the IV chemotherapy fluids). Even the hospital got into the spirit by redecorating to match the superhero motif now prevalent in the ward. It's amazing how a basic idea like logo branding, mixed with simple hygenic design can result in something so magical!
