The one giveaway people wear in public

A cap does something almost no other promotional item manages: it gets worn outside, by choice, in front of strangers. Research from the Promotional Products Association International in 2023 found 81% of people keep branded items like hats for over a year, which is why headwear keeps earning its place in uniform kits, event merchandise and club fundraising alike.

We supply caps and headwear in bulk to companies, sporting clubs, schools, councils and event organisers across Australia. Buying in bulk means a larger volume at a lower per-unit price, so a 250-cap club order costs noticeably less each than 50. Around 95% of our clients choose embroidery for its durability. Everything is proofed before production and dispatched between 1 and 7 days. Complete the kit with embroidered polo shirts, or pair outdoor caps with branded sunscreen for sun-safe events.

Before you order

Expert buying tips

  1. 01

Choose embroidery unless the artwork forces your hand. Around 95% of our clients embroider, because thread outlasts print on something worn and washed constantly. Printing wins only where the design has fine detail or a photographic element that stitch cannot hold.

  2. 02

Simplify the logo before it goes on a cap. A front panel is a small, curved, flexible surface. Fine lines and gradients that work on a business card close up in thread, so the strongest results come from a simplified mark. Our guide to logos that work on merchandise covers it.

  3. 03

Match the closure to the setting. Snapbacks suit a young crowd and stack neatly for handout; buckles and Velcro suit workwear and one-size events. It is a small decision that changes how the cap looks and who will wear it.

  4. 04

Think about sun coverage, not just style. A cap shades the face; a bucket hat covers ears and neck as well. For outdoor crews, school events and anything running through the middle of the day, the wider brim is the responsible call.

  5. 05

Buy to the next quantity break. Bulk means a larger volume at a lower per-unit price, and because embroidery setup is a one-off, spreading it across more caps drops the unit cost twice over.

  6. 06

Order a sample if the cap will be sold. Merchandise a club charges for has to feel right in the hand. Crown height, brim stiffness and fabric weight all vary between styles, and one sample settles the argument faster than a catalogue.

Branding methods

Embroidery or printing

Two methods cover nearly every headwear order. Compare them here, or read the full branding methods guide if your artwork sits in between, or ask us about woven and rubber patches for a retail-look cap.

Ideal use cases in Australia

  • Staff uniform kits, where an embroidered cap finishes a look that corporate uniforms start.
  • Sporting clubs selling supporter caps and beanies at the canteen, where merchandise revenue funds the season.
  • Construction and trade crews, where a trucker cap with a mesh back is genuinely cooler on site through summer.
  • Schools and outdoor education programs, where bucket hats meet sun-safe policy and the branding lasts the year.
  • Council community events and Australia Day activations, where caps get worn home and stay in circulation for years.
  • Concerts, festivals and fundraisers selling branded headwear as merchandise rather than giving it away.
  • Trade shows and expos, where a cap on the stand team is a uniform and a giveaway at the same time.
  • Corporate golf days and charity runs, where a golf cap or visor suits the dress code and the weather.

Questions we get daily

Headwear ordering FAQs

Still stuck? Get in touch with us to learn about custom branding options, request a quote, or book a meeting with our team today.

Ask a question

What is the minimum order quantity?

+
It varies by product but is typically 50 units, which is the point where bulk pricing makes the order cost-effective. If you need a smaller run, get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate it.

Is embroidery or printing better for hats?

+
Embroidery is more durable and reads as more professional, and about 95% of our clients choose it. Printing suits vibrant or complex designs that thread cannot reproduce. The comparison above sets out the trade-offs on each.

How quickly can you dispatch an order?

+
Dispatch runs between 1 and 7 days from artwork approval, depending on the product and branding method. We filled 18 urgent orders inside 7 days last financial year, at 100% on-time delivery. Tell us your event date and we will confirm what is achievable before you order. Full detail sits on our lead times page.

Can I mix different styles in one bulk order?

+
Yes. You can order a variety of styles and colours to suit your promotion. Each product carries its own minimum, so a split order costs a little more per unit than the same total in one style — we will lay both options out in the quote.

Do you offer samples or sizing help?

+
Yes, samples are available on request so you can check quality before committing. Our caps are one size fits most, and we can recommend the right style for your group. Request one through our href="https://www.cubicpromote.com.au/product-samples" style="color:#1577C0;text-decoration:underline;">product samples page.

Will I see a proof before production?

+
Always. We provide a digital proof of your design so you can review it and request changes. Branding starts once you approve it — and note that the order cannot be cancelled after approval, so take the time you need at that step.

Are there setup fees or bulk discounts?

+
There is typically a setup fee covering preparation of your production design, which varies with the decoration method and is generally modest. Bulk discounts apply on top, so the more you order the lower the price per unit. We explain the charge in href="https://www.cubicpromote.com.au/blog/what-are-print-setup-fees-and-why-do-you-pay-them" style="color:#1577C0;text-decoration:underline;">this article on print setup fees.

How should I care for embroidered or printed headwear?

+
Wash by hand or on a gentle cycle in cold water. Do not iron directly on a printed design. For embroidery, avoid bleach — it damages the thread over time. Passing this on with a uniform rollout noticeably extends how long the caps keep looking new.
