Promotional apparel lik t-shirts and Polo shirts is a hugely popular way to advertise your brand without it being too gimicky or in your face. After all we can't walk around naked on the streets or go to work with just a singlet on. We often get asked "were is the best place to brand"?

  • Promotional apparel provides a method of advertising your brand with visibility on the front, back, and sleeves of t-shirts and polos.
  • Various branding techniques, including screen printing, heat transfer, DTG printing, embroidery, and sublimation printing.
  • When choosing a branding location and technique, consider factors like design complexity, color scheme, etc.

Front View

The obvious place to brand would be the front across the chest or on the right hand side depending on whether it is going to be printed tshirt or embroided polo. The front offers the most visual impact and for events where there are sponsors involved. The front chest is reserved for primary sponsors (VIPs!). Other areas suitable for branding also include bottom right hand side and collars. Though, branding on the bottom would only be suitable for events were tucked in shirts are not required. These areas are often used to place secondary sponsors.

Back View

The back also offer a large area for branding and whilst you may think it is not as good as the front, it offers its own benefits as most people will tend to gaze (or stare) at your back for longer than at the front! (We all have been told its rude to stare, but not when they don't realise!) Branding on this space is also usually reserved for the VIPs!

Sleeves

Often forgotten are the areas of the sleeves. The sleeves actually offer a good area for branding and can look very stylish. Often best suited for a simple logo with or with out the company name. This area would suit secondary sponsors or any other sponsors involved with the campagne.

Branding Techniques

There are several popular branding techniques used for customizing t-shirts and polos. Each technique has its unique advantages and suitability for different designs and materials. Here are some of the most common branding techniques:

  • Screen Printing: Also known as silk screening, this technique involves using a stencil (screen) to apply layers of ink on the fabric. It's suitable for large-scale orders, bold designs, and simple color schemes.

  • Heat Transfer: This method uses heat and pressure to transfer pre-printed designs onto the fabric. It's ideal for small orders, complex multicolor designs, and photographic images.

  • Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing: DTG uses specialized inkjet printers to print high-resolution images directly onto the fabric. It's perfect for intricate designs, full-color images, and small order quantities.

  • Embroidery: This technique involves stitching the design directly onto the fabric using thread. Embroidery is often used for polos and professional attire, giving a high-quality, durable finish suitable for logos and monograms.

  • Sublimation Printing: Sublimation uses heat to turn dye into gas, which then permeates the fabric, creating a vibrant, long-lasting design. This technique is best suited for polyester or polyester-blend fabrics and is ideal for all-over prints and complex patterns.

Takeaway

When selecting a branding technique for t-shirts and polos, consider factors such as the design complexity, color scheme, fabric type, order quantity, and desired durability. Each method has its strengths and limitations, so choose the one that best fits your specific needs and preferences.
