  2. The 50 Hottest Lipstick Colours

Here at Cubic Promote, we deal with colours every day, it's kind of an interest for us. For me personally, fashion and cosmetics aren't just "kind of", they're definitely an interest. Which is why I thought this particular study was fascinating. London's Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest in the world, with over 200,000 people passing through it each day, isn't just a transport hub. No, it's a major shopping hub as well, with high end luxury fashion and cosmetic brands on location. Because of that, they've got a good idea of what travelers buy and what styles are trending. They've now compiled some of that information into The Lipstick Colours of the Year report, a study of what the most popular colours are for women travelling to some of the most popular locations in the world.

  3. The Evolution of Logo Branding

Styles change over the years. What is considered fashionable one year can easily be seen as outdated by the next. This holds true even for logos. A long running brand will go through a number of variations of their logo. Traditional can soon become staid, and a bold new logo might be required. For many brands, this means simplifying their logo, making it cleaner and more elegant. The following are some of the best examples of that design idea, proving that sometimes, particularly in the world of logo branding, less is actually more.

The simplifying of logos can achieve great results. A clean minimalist style free of clutter can be far more pleasing to the eye than something jumbled. Flattening typefaces. Changing fonts. Creating more streamlined writing. The refocus on a logo

  5. Why is Pink Considered a Girl's Colour?

The colour pink, in all its various shades, is synonymous with femininity. A whole swathe of the Pantone colour chart would be considered "girly." Pink, peach, fuschia, salmon, mauve, magenta, whatever you want to call it. Anything lighter than red, or purple - and even purple might be considered feminine - is a "girly" colour. But this wasn't always the case.

Pink for Boys and Blue is for Girls

It may come as a surprise for anyone who's ever had to shop for children, but in the early twentieth century, pink was considered a masculine colour. It was perceived as more rugged, more boyish, whilst blue, ironically enough, was considered to be a colour for girls. For example, a June 1918 article from the trade publication

  7. Explosion Warning From Smart Battery

You may think that when people speak of exploding smart phone batteries they are just scare mongering, unfortunately this is an actual danger that could cause much harm and in severe cases death. Stanford Associate Professor Yi Cui and other professors are attempting to create a “smart” battery.  They are researching a way for lithium-ion batteries to give a warning before they explode.

Lithium-ion batteries are made up of several components and can burst into flames when the polymer within the battery gets pierced. The scientists researching this have come up with a way to warn that the polymer has been pierced. Trying to understand this is giving me flashbacks to chemistry class but basically the battery itself won’t be “smart”. It will need some form of device to actually

  8. Heinz Mistake with Printed Labels on their Product

I love Heinz Ketchup. It brings out the flavour in almost anything I eat. Heniz in Germany though seems to want to bring out more than just flavour. It has made unfortunately made a mistake with the labeling on its iconic Tomato Sauce bottles. What was the error? Well apparently the custom printed QR code scanned users not to their website, but instead to an Adult site in Germany. Ouch!

    Printed QR Code Scans

For those who do not know, QR codes have been around for a while. They are typically seen in print advertisements, bill boards and promotional products. They allow a user to use a Smartphone to scan and immediately be directed to a website, or a web page.
