Ever since the release of the Pixar movie Up, many of us have day dreamed about taking off to the skies, bobbling along under a mass of multicoloured helium balloons in search of adventure.

And for far longer, people have dreamed of executing the ultimate marketing stunt, one that will inspire awe and international recognition.

Helium-Balloon-3

A Brave Attempt with Balloons

Canadian man Daniel Boria dared to take on both of these noble pursuits as he humbly climbed aboard his chosen air craft this passing Sunday - a garden chair suspended from about 100 helium balloons as you do... Soon after a daring crash landing, he was charged and detained by police for mischief causing danger to life.

Amazing Marketing Stunt

Boria, 26, soared for kilometers over the city of Calgary but missed his planned landing point at the Calgary Stampede (a rodeo event) where he hoped to promote a cleaning-product company. (The link between cleaning supplies and this daring act is not entirely clear, though one thing is for certain - this could have ended up very messy.)

Balloon-Flight

“He had no control device on the balloons and really was just traveling by the grace of the wind,” one spectator told ABC News.

Boria was eventually forced to "somersault out of the chair" and parachute down to safety. He was left with minor ankle injuries, the chair and balloons have not since been located.
