From an early age most people begin to realise the joys of getting things for free. It all starts goody bags at the end of a birthday party. Getting older doesn’t change the excitement one feels when getting something for nothing.

The goody bags handed out at celebrity award shows take things to a new level. I am always astounded at the expense of the gift bags presenters and winners receive at the Oscars. Its almost sickening. And who could forget the rumours that Kim and Kanye spent a whopping $125,000 on each of their wedding guests gift bags. They apparently included Bollinger champagne, Creme de la Mer skin products, spa vouchers and personalized Swarovski-encrusted ornaments.

Unfortunately for this year’s Logie winners and presenters the gift bags they received were a lot less extravagant. Here is what the stars took home on one of the biggest nights in Australian television.

Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Réserve French Champagne: If you’re going to get free alcohol champagne isn’t a bad one to get. Toasts for the winners, drowning of sorrows for the losers.

Seafolly sunglasses: As far as I’m concerned you can never have enough pairs of sunglasses, such a useful gift.

A copy of the award-winning novel ‘Inside The O’Briens’: Not your typical gift bag item. I would have thought it would be all beauty products and hotel vouchers. But at least this adds an intellectual element to the whole affair.

A Simone Pérele gift voucher: Strange that the only gift voucher they received was for lingerie. I suppose this adds the sexy element.

A La Prairie gift pack: It included Skin Caviar Luxe Cream, Luxe Eye Lift Cream and Crystalline Concentre. This is more like it!

Tim Tams: Who doesn’t love chocolate biscuits?

Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour album: Probably included because Sam Smith was set to perform before his vocal cords fell ill. Still hes one of the artists of the moment and his music is beautiful.

Goddess Instant Tan body bronzer from Naked Tan: I can’t imagine too many of the male receivers will be overjoyed by the contents of these bags.
