When creating logos it can be difficult to come up with something that stands out from the crowd. Something that many people may not think of when creating an image is the negative space, when in actual fact the use of negative space can be just as important as positive space.

Negative space is the space that surrounds an object in an image. It involves using the alternative colour in a graphic to make a dual imagery and representation of a product.  It can bring a sense of balance to a design and can be used to create something very special.

Using negative space in the creation of a branded logo on a product can be inspiring and unique. The purpose of a logo is to make a company stand out, have a lasting effect and communicate the idea of the business. It creates an impression in the mind of the public. Therefore, the more creative and original the design, the better.

We found some brilliant logo designs that all employ clever and creative use of negative space. Check them out!

These two images were created by Michael Spitz. I love how the negative space around the bottles makes them look like a rocket.

The above image uses a unicorn to  represent the word unique and the negative space is used to create a light bulb which refers to the word idea. An exceptionally clever design.
